Bacteria Water

Blue Marsh Swim Beach closed due to bacteria contamination – Reading Eagle

The Dry Brooks Day Use Area at Blue Marsh Lake is closed to swimming due to a sewage spill.

According to the Army Corps of Engineers which operates the site, there are high levels of bacteria.

A Monday morning announcement from site managers stated that water testing over the weekend showed high levels of e.coli bacteria. The swimming beach will be closed until the bacteria levels are returned to a safe range.

This restriction only applies to the designated swimming area. Picnicking, boating, and other activities remain permitted. Blue Marsh does not test the water, so visitors who swim in the water are at their own risk.
