Originally started used a set of these last July when ordering our first gravity system from you company. The difference in smell and taste from our tap city water is amazing. We were at a friends recently and offered bottled water. We could hardly get past the smell and taste 😟, and it was a brand we used to purchase all the time. I got the 2 pack to replace original Berkey filters. I followed priming instructions from a British Berkefeld video on YouTube that recommended the priming cycle be done 3 times for the size of my container. The water passes through the filters very slowly, though, so it took me until the 3rd day to taste the water. The water tasted very clean.

Waited about a year to get replacement filters. Probably should have done it a bit sooner since the quality difference is easily noticable.
I did make a mistake though where I didn’t get 4 replacement filter’s and lost the the blockers you’re supposed to put in if you don’t have a filter that initially came with my water tank.
So hopefully someone doesn’t make that mistake too and have half new and half used filters 😅

I bought my British Berkefeld water tank and filters for Christmas 2024. I did a huge amount of research before I purchased. There are other filters you can buy but British Berkefeld filters are simply the best filters on the market. I won’t consider any others.

I am a long-time British Berkefeld gravity filter user, starting when I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in West Africa, where scrupulous attention to safe personal water supply was a necessary part of daily life. I now use a Big Berkey gravity system daily, and it was time to replace my filter candles. After installing the new candles as per the included instructions, it did take about 24 hours for the water flow from the upper chamber through the filter to pick up speed, right out of the box. Just an FYI to those purchasing new candles: there is nothing wrong, it will just take a day to prime your new candles. I mention this because the instructions do not state this. Very pleased with both the transaction and price!

I really like the filters and the water has no after-taste. Some reviewers commented on how long it takes for the water to go through the filters when using it for the first time. I soaked my filters in cold water for a couple of hours and the water filters much faster. From what I understand priming the filters is not necessary but this has really helped speed up the filtering time.

The priming process was slow and it took a couple days to obtain drinkable water but that is to be expected with a filter dense enough to filter out the listed contaminants. Water taste is very good and we are happy with the purchase. Wish the filters were a little less expensive.
