British Berkefeld 7″ Ultra Sterasyl Ceramic Water Filter
The British Berkefeld 7-inch Ultra Sterasyl ceramic filter delivers powerful multi-stage filtration designed specifically for gravity water filtration systems.
Each filter features a micro-porous ceramic outer shell that physically blocks bacteria, cysts, and sediment. Inside the filter, activated carbon filtration media helps reduce chlorine, lead, organic chemicals, and other contaminants while improving the taste and clarity of drinking water.
Ultra Sterasyl filters are certified by NSF International to four drinking water standards, verifying their performance through rigorous third-party testing.
This filter provides reliable ceramic filtration for everyday drinking water while maintaining a simple gravity-powered design that requires no electricity or plumbing.
Ultra Sterasyl filters are widely used for home kitchens, emergency preparedness, off-grid living, camping, and everyday drinking water filtration.
NSF Certified Filtration
British Berkefeld Ultra Sterasyl filters are certified by NSF International to four drinking water standards, confirming their performance for contaminant reduction and material safety.
✔ NSF/ANSI Standard 42 – Reduction of chlorine, taste, and odor
✔ NSF/ANSI Standard 53 – Certified for health effects contaminant reduction such as lead
✔ NSF/ANSI Standard 372 – Certified lead-free materials
✔ NSF/ANSI Standard 401 – Reduction of emerging contaminants
These certifications confirm that the filter meets strict third-party testing standards for drinking water safety and filtration performance.

Filter Life
Each Ultra Sterasyl ceramic filter can treat approximately 800 gallons of water before replacement is recommended.
For most households this typically equals about 6–12 months of regular use depending on water quality and daily consumption.
The ceramic outer shell can also be cleaned periodically to help maintain filtration performance and extend filter life.
System Compatibility
This filter is designed for British Berkefeld gravity water filtration systems and most other 7-inch gravity filter systems.
Compatible systems include:
• British Berkefeld gravity systems
• Berkey-style gravity filter systems
• ProOne gravity systems
• Alexapure gravity systems
• Other stainless steel gravity water filters using 7-inch stem filters
Using multiple filters increases filtration speed and total system capacity.

I have only received these filters just a week ago, so I don’t have much to comment on. I can say, that the filters arrived within days of placing the order, great turn around time. As for the installation, it could not have been easier.

Waited about a year to get replacement filters. Probably should have done it a bit sooner since the quality difference is easily noticable.
I did make a mistake though where I didn’t get 4 replacement filter’s and lost the the blockers you’re supposed to put in if you don’t have a filter that initially came with my water tank.
So hopefully someone doesn’t make that mistake too and have half new and half used filters 😅

Love my gravity water filters

much smaller than the black filters . Very slow filter comparatively. That may be a good thing!

Your filters do an amazing job
It takes a while for them to filter the water, and that’s the key
I have used the Berkefeld system since 2003
