We love our prince berkefeld and now regret not getting the duke berkefeld ! We’ll have to look into getting that in the future. It was fairly easy to assemble and when we first tasted the water for the first time it tasted like water coming out from the outside garden hose. Brought back many childhood memories… but it was disappointing that it had a taste like that at all. But after few more refills, that taste lessened and now it tastes like the cleanest, purest water. We did a taste test with a bottled water and well, the bottled water tasted like crap as opposed to the berkefeld water actually giving out a sweet, clean, crisp taste! I was shocked at the difference because I’m usually the last person to notice details to anything about everything! (Couldn’t tell the quality difference between DVD and Blue Ray for like 5 years – LOL) We are now researching and looking into alkalizing the berkefeld Water to optimize the health benefits. I love my prince berkefeld ! My tap water tasted and smelled like bleach. It would assault your senses! With the berkefeld my water tastes and smells fresh and clean.
I read all the reviews I could find about berkefeld s. The only real concerns I found were “slow filter time” which I like because it means it is effectively filtering. You are not going to stand next to the berkefeld and watch and listen to it filter. Well, maybe you are. Anyway, all I know is that after I fill it, I walk away and there is a fresh glass of water when I want it.
Some people apparently had problems with the “spigot leaking” after installation. This one bothered me. As a girl with not particularly strong hands, I was sure mine would leak. Not true. I put the berkefeld together in just minutes and it has not leaked a drop.
The prince berkefeld holds 1.5 gallons of water which is perfect for one or two people. I rinse and fill my berkefeld every other day.

I did a lot of research, and this is the best. However, note there are newer “white” filters that are better. However, these white filters, when combined with P-4 flouride filters, should be about equivalent. P2 filters are for the white ones, will not fit white ones. So be carefu; which filter combination you get.

My sister and I both bought berkefeld ‘s. I bought the prince berkefeld , she bought one of the higher priced ones. The company makes numerous types/sizes and it’s seems like they only have one set of instructions which makes them hard to understand! One important thing they don’t mention is that the berkefeld ‘s won’t produce much of the filtered water for the first 24 hours. We both only had a trickle and were ready to return them until we figured that out on our own. Just be patient and wait the 24 hours and you will have great tasting water. Both of ours are working perfectly now and we both LOVE them.

I’m very impressed with the taste of the water and with the customer service I received. When I first set this system up, it leaked. I called the company (phone number is impressed on the side of the canister) and was told how to remedy it. What I didn’t notice when I assembled it was that the washers for the spigot are slightly different, and that’s critical knowledge. When the customer service agent explained that to me, I made the change and the leaking stopped. I didn’t anticipate how tall this system would be – 18 inches – but I was able to find a suitable place on my counter. Otherwise, I would have had to find a free-standing table.

This filter replaces a dukeger berkefeld I owned but gave to a family member.
In my experience these are worth every single cent as they never break, need no power to operate and filter most anything.
I always do a lot of research online before buying and for me the original white ceramic filters included with this filter are preferred over the white ones which -btw- don’t last nearly as long but filter flouride in city water. These filters develop a thin coat on them that you can easily brush off under the sink in no time, you wipe the interior walls with paper towel, replace the filters and voila, good for a few more months.
Before getting a berkefeld I kept buying a new faucet filter every other month and those can ad up in no time.
As soon as you can buy one of these and you surely will save a lot of money and time in the long run.

Okay, I love this unit. Do not get me wrong. I use this prince berkefeld every day. Every day. I only have 2 “negatives” about my purchase. 1. If I had known I would be this pleased with it I would have gotten a duchessr unit. I truly would have, and still might. 2. I have spoken with berkefeld about this because I felt strongly about it. I believe they should include the sight glass spigot for knowing how much is in your lower unit. It would just make things that much better. But other than that. I love my berkefeld . Love it. It is one of the very best thing I have done for myself and my family in recent years.

Very pleased with this berkefeld . It will put out enough water for canning without a doubt. Our rusty well water cleans up very well. I have gone 3 weeks not without cleaning the ceramic filters. I wish I would have bought it years ago. I can run water through 3 or 4 times in a day which gives me water this winter for my humidifiers and keep my machines running cleaner, and saves on filters.
