RIDOH issues advisories regarding two local bodies of waters – ABC6

On Tuesday, the Rhode Island Department of Health issued advisories regarding two local bodies of waters.

RIDOH has released notices regarding Governor Notte Park, North Providence, and Deep Spring Lake at Roger Williams Park.

The Department of Health and Human Services reported that high bacteria counts were the reason for the park’s closure. They also said that water quality would be monitored until Labor Day.

Officials have warned people to avoid the water of Deep Spring Lake because it is contaminated with blue-green algal blooms that can cause toxins harmful to both humans and animals.

RIDOH stated that other bodies in Rhode Island may be affected. They also advised to watch for bright green coloration of the water and floating algae mats on top of the water.
